Chapter 19: Evacuation

Franee, Nori, and Domi were sitting in the library studying for their history class they had together.

"Howard is a very nice teacher. I learn so easily in his class." Franee said.

"Versityle, Franee. He said he wanted us to start calling him that." Domi said.

"Oh yea that's right! So ya'll been getting this crazy vibe around this school right?" Franee asked.

"Hell yea! Every since I read about when the S.U. men saved Joniesha and them it's been weird around here." Domi said.

"Yea, and did you hear about the burnt down warehouse? They found..well..what use to be human. They couldn't I.D. them though." Franee said.

"You think someone from here did that?" Domi asked.

"I don't know, but I feel out of the loop. I mean I know I'm knew but we don't have no inside scoop so if this school is in trouble, our asses will be left behind looking stupid." Franee said.

Domi nodded in agreement, and looked over at Nori. She was staring at something. Domi followed her gaze to a very, cute dude. Domi glanced back at Nori.

"Nori." No reply. "Nori!"

"Huh? Yea." Nori said, glancing back at Domi.

"You staring dude down mad hard. Why don't you go say hi?" Domi said.

Nori blushed. "No! O God I was staring that hard! What if he noticed." Nori glanced over, and her's and the cute dude's eyes clashed. Nori quickly looked away.

"awww shit! He's coming over!" Franee said.

Nori grabbed her pen, and acted like she was writing something.

"Hello ladies. How ya'll doing this afternoon?"

"Wonderful" Franee said, flashing him a bright smile.

"Great! What's your name?" Domi asked.

"Redd. What's yours?"

"Domi. This is Franee, and that's Nori." Domi said.

Redd glanced down at Nori. "Why hello there."

Nori barely glanced up. She said a small hi. Redd smiled.

"I thought maybe I should introduce myself since you were staring a hole into the side of my face."

Nori blushed harder. "Sorry!"

Redd laughed. "No need to apologize. I don't mind beautiful women checking me out."

Nori smiled, and glanced down at the table.

"This you're phone?" Redd asked Nori.

"Yea."

"Mind if I see it?"

"No."

Redd picked it up, pushed some buttons. Then they heard "Pretty Wings" playing.

Domi laughed. "Oldest trick in the book."

Redd laughed, and set Nori's phone down.

"Not that old, cell phones haven't been around that long." Redd said with a wink. "Hit me up sometime Nori."

Then Redd went back to his table.

Domi and Franee started laughing. Nori glanced up, and then joined in.

Sabrina was in her bed, watching T.V. She had been released from the hospital yesterday, she had been in there for two days. She glanced up as Darryl walked in with a glass of water and her painkillers. Sabrina sighed. Right on time.

"Here you go, Sabrina." Darryl handed her her pills.

"Thanks."

She popped the pills in her mouth, and sipped her water. When she was handing Darryl the glass back, Dre walked into the room.

"Dre?" Sabrina said, raising an eyebrow. "What are you doing here?"

"I heard you was out of the hospital. So I wanted to come over, and see you." Dre said.

Sabrina nodded. "Well thanks, and thanks for all the flowers. They really cheered me up while I was in the hospital."

Dre smiled. "No problem."

Darryl cleared his throat. "Okay so you visited. Now Sabrina needs some rest."

"You trying to kick me out of Sabrina's dorm?" Dre asked.

"I'm not trying anything." Darryl said.

Dre frowned, and glanced at Sabrina. "Sabrina, you want me to leave?"

Sabrina glanced at Darryl. She hadn't been getting ready to go to sleep. The pills took at least 20 minutes to set in..then she just dropped off into sleep without any warning.

"I don't mind. You can stay until I fall asleep. Then both of you need to leave."

Dre nodded, and she saw him flash a smile at Darryl. Then he walked over to the side of Sabrina's bed. He kneeled down.

"So how are you feeling?" Dre asked.

"Fine. I've had worst." Sabrina said.

"I'm sure. You seem so accident prone."

Sabrina smiled."Yea I don't know what it is. Things just leap in my way, it's strange."

Dre laughed.

Sabrina didn't know what was different now because last time she was in Dre's presence she had wanted to get away A.S.A.P. Now she was glad he was here. What was up with that?

Darryl came into her view. "Remember when we had went to Six Flags, and as we was getting on the ride you tripped, and fell face first into the cart?"

Sabrina laughed. "Yes! I startled the little people that assist you on so bad!"

Darryl started to laugh with her. "I think you've damaged every part of your body by now."

"Yea..I think I have."

"So,Sabrina, I got a question?" Dre asked.

"Yes?"

"Do you have a boyfriend?"

Darryl frowned, but turned to look at Sabrina. Sabrina stared as these two men stared back at her.

"No I don't have a boyfriend." Sabrina said softly.

Dre smiled. "As I thought because Darryl here-"

And before Sabrina could say "Hocus Pocus" Darryl was on Dre. Sabrina's eyes widened, as Darryl and Dre went at it. She would stop it, but her body wasn't capable of moving right now. She would yell, but she felt this was rather entertaining.

Dre had slammed Darryl into the wall. "What the hell is your problem?!"

Darryl got out of his grip, and punched Dre right in the nose. Dre's nose made a crunch sound. Sabrina flinched.

"Darryl!" Sabrina yelled.

Darryl turned to look at Sabrina.

"What the hell?! I think you just broke his nose!" Sabrina said, as she watch Dre open and close his fist, while his nose gushed blood down the front of his shirt. He looked like he was trying to decide something.

"Dre just go into the bathroom, and clean yourself up." Sabrina said.

Dre glanced at her, then back at Darryl. After a short moment he walked off to the bathroom.

"Darryl, you want to explain what that was?"

Darryl leaned against the wall, and took a deep breath. He had a busted lip, and he wiped the blood from it before speakin.

"Sabrina, I got something to tell you."

"Ok?"

"I've been crushing on you since I could remember."

Sabrina's eyes popped open wide. Darryl continued.

"I mean you're independent, talented with the pen, sexy, got your head on straight what more can a man ask for?"

Sabrina glanced over as Dre came in. The bottom of Dre's eyes were beginning to darken.

" I think you're going to have to go to the nurse, Dre."

"Yea I know. I'm going now." He walked over to Sabrina, and planted a kiss on her forehead. Sabrina closed her eyes, and breathed in. Dre's intoxicating male scent made her heart rate speed up. Dre backed away. "I'll talk to you later."

"I'll be seeing you around too." He said in a threatening tone towards Darryl. Then he was gone. Sabrina's eyes were still closed. The pills were starting to kick in.

Sabrina opened her eyes when she heard Darryl call her name.

"Are you feeling him?"

"In what way?"

"In any way."

"I mean he's a nice guy. At least he seems like it, i don't really know him yet."

Darryl raised an eyebrow. "Yet?"

Sabrina frowned. "Darryl just because you had this crazy ass crush since whenever doesn't mean you can control who I can or can't hang out with. Me, myself, personally doesn't have feelings like that for you Darryl. I love you, yes. But has the wonderful best friend you have always been. You're really trying to make this complicated for me."

Darryl walked over to Sabrina, and kneeled down next to her. "I'm not trying to make this complicated Brina. I just..I just don't want you hooking up with Dre."

"One..I haven't said anything about hooking up with him and two..if I was that's none of your concern."

Darryl laid his forehead on Sabrina's forearm, she felt his lips touch her arm.

Sabrina sighed. "And this is you not making this complicated?"

Darryl sighed. "So when Dre does it, it's cool?"

"So you're competing with Dre now?"

Darryl didn't say anything. Sabrina's eyes were getting heavy.

"Look Darryl, we talk more about this later. I-"

Darryl glanced up, when she had stopped mid-sentence. Her eyes were closed, and her head fell slightly to the side. Darryl smiled, and lightly kissed Sabrina on her cheek. Then he left.

Everyone was getting ready to leave Troy's class. While Joniesha was putting her notebook in her backpack, she heard Troy call her name. Joniesha sighed to herself, grabbed her backpack and walked to the front of the room.

She didn't say anything. She just raised an eyebrow, and crossed her arms. Troy stared at her for a moment, then spoke.

"I heard there was a fire down at the old warehouse."

Joniesha continued to stare at him.

"Were you involved in that?"

"So if something goes down, I automatically got to be involved in it?"

"Did I say that? I just asked a simple question."

"Ok..then i'll give you a simple answer No."

Joniesha turned to leave, she saw Tiffany and Natasha waiting for her at the the door. Troy called her name again. Joniesha sighed louder this time.

"What?!"

Troy glanced at Tiffany and Natasha who were glaring at him. Then he returned his eyes to Joniesha's face. He leaned in, and lowered his voice.

"I didn't want any hard feelings, Joniesha. How long you gone keep up this childish silent treatment?"

"I'm talking to you now, ain't I, Professor?"

Troy sighed. "You use to be my most active student, now you're well not. Class isn't the same."

Joniesha frowned. "Wasn't that the problem though, Troy? Me being too "active". Look, you're right, I have became quiet. Only because I'm pissed on how you just dropped my ass. But it's cool I've learned from past mistakes, and trust I'm not all naive and shit. I wasn't falling in love or anything if that's what you're afraid of. I guess I just felt played."

"I didn't mean to play you. I just really did feel bad about my actions."

Joniesha stared at him for a minute. Then she smiled. "I know, and I'm sorry for putting you in that situation. I can see it really does pain you. Don't worry you'll get the same Joniesha back next class."

Troy smiled. "Good."

"Ok. One question before I leave."

"What?"

"Do you miss me?"

Troy shook his head, and pushed Joniesha towards the door. Joniesha laughed, and walked with Tiff and Tash out the door.

"What was that about?" Tash asked.

"Unfinished Business." Joniesha said.

"Mhm." Tash said.

When they reached their dorm, Joniesha unlocked the door. When they walked in Joniesha spotted someone sitting on the couch.

"What the hell?" Natasha said. As Joniesha and Tiffany pulled out their 9mm that they kept on them at all times. They kept it pointed at the intruder, as Natasha turned on the lights.

Natasha and Tiff gasped, as Joniesha growled. "What the fuck you doing here?" She hadn't lowered her weapon. Tiffany dropped hers though, but didn't put it away.

"Wow, long time no see." Natasha said.

"Yea. It has been a minute."

"Why are you here?" Joniesha asked again, cocking her gun.

"We need to talk."

"You didn't want to talk before, don't try this shit now." Joniesha said.

"No..not about that. About..Ace."

Tiffany frowned. "You know bout that nigga?"

"Who don't? He's real serious about bombing this school. I came because there is a detective working here. He called my association for back up."

"What association?" Tiffany asked.

"A secret one."

"And you're hear by yourself?" Tash asked.

"That's all they need is me. I'm the best."

"So what are you here to do?"

"You know I'm very uncomfortable here with Joniesha having this gun on me."

Tiffany glanced at Joniesha. "Come Jonie, put the gun down. He's here to help us."

"How can you be so sure?" Joniesha said.

"You just have to trust me."

Joniesha saw red, and Tiffany saw what she was intending to do. Tiffany moved quick to snatch the gun, out of Joniesha's hand. As Tash grabbed hold of Joniesha before she could attack him

"Trust you! I've made the mistake of doing that once! Fuck that!"

There was a knock at the door, Tiffany opened it. BrittBrat and Chicki walked in. They froze as they took in the scene. Tash struggling to keep ahold of Joniesha, Tiffany holding to guns in her hand. Then they eyes settled on the man in the room.

"Wow..Vann it's been awhile huh?" Britt said. "Why is your punk ass here?"

Vann repeated what he told the others.

"What makes you or this damn detective, whoever he is, think that we can't handle ourselves?"

"Because you've only dealt with is bottom line crew. Ace runs a lot of people. Strong, dangerous people. He is going to bomb the school up."

Chicki's eyes widened. "What?! When?!"

"Tonight." Vann said, keeping one eye on Joniesha,who had settled down but was glaring at him. "I'm escorting ya'll to a safe place. Another guy from my association has escorted most of the premises. All that's left is my group. The Dean and teachers have been removed also."

"Where are you taking us?" Chicki asked.

"To an island."

"An island! Hell yea!" Britt said.

Vann smiled. "I need you to relay the message. We got two hours. Pack and go."

Chicki and Britt left to go tell the others. Natasha glanced at Joniesha. "You've calmed down?"

"Sure." Joniesha said.

Natasha nodded. Then left, as Tiffany walked over to Joniesha. She handed her her gun.

"If you shoot him, you'll regret it later, and you know it." Tiffany whispered. Then she left the room as well.

Joniesha glared at Vann, the man who had broke her heart. The man who had took her virginty at the age of 18. The man who had fucked around her. The man she had set his apartment and car on fire. The man she hated more than anything in the world, and now she was forced to go along with him because he was here to save their lives.

"So, are you going to shoot me? If so get it over now." Vann said.

Joniesha raised an eyebrow. "And if I do, what you gone do?"

"Nothing, I've taken worse than a bullet, and I figure you think I deserved it."

"You're right I do, but you need your strenght to get everyone out of here. Remind me later to shoot you."

Vann gave a small smile. "Sure."

Joniesha then tucked her gun away, and exited the room to go tell others to get ready to evacuate the school.
